A political science student finalist of Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu, Odoemena Chinonso, flags off his new initiative, “Teens can blog.”
According to Odoemena, the initiative focuses on giving a lift to the technological status of young minds in a fast growing digital world. Thus, teenagers get opportunity to be armed with relevant skills covering, developing AI’s, creating original writing and visual contents,coding, website development and social media use.
The online tutoring recorded up to 256 teenagers that partook during the session and according to him, they were taught the rudiments of creative content creation, writing and blogging.
Such direction in professional knowledge could be helpful in ridding the nation of fake news and plagiarism which has haunted the media in Nigeria and the world at large, he added.
In response to the impact of the “Teens can blog’’ initiative, a secondary school student in lagos, who has actively participated expressed how much knowledge the programme has armed him with, educating and improving his ability to create original contents besides blogging.
According to him, “I have been made to understand properly without any iota of doubt that as a teen, my age cannot be a barrier in influencing and impacting the society; as a young person, I have come to terms with importance of curbing the menace of fake news and promoting original contents.”
